Introduction to the project

There are times when there is a strong motivation to action, when we feel there is no option but to act. This project, this website, this process
is a response to the motivation to act.

O’Kaïros is the name of the registered non profit Association [law of 1901] that manages the funding of the project. So far we have
collected donations only from our core group. These donations have already been considerable, especially in terms of time. We prepare for
the next steps by inviting you to join the Association, to make a donation or to take part in one of the seasonal practice and building
meetings at Tourné in Occitanie.

The simplest description of the project is to build a series of stupas. A stupa represents enlightened mind. To build a stupa, to contribute to it
its building or its maintenance, to circumambulate a stupa, all these actions and more bring considerable benefit. Our project is predicated
on being of benefit to all beings.

We who initiated this project have worked together for many years, some of us for as many as 30 years, working on adventures and
encounters in the nature of truth, awareness and compassion. We have worked in many traditions. While the stupa is considered to be a
Buddhist reliquary, the enlightened mind it represents is beyond tradition.

Thus here you will find strict adherence to the Mahayana tradition of stupa building. Equally you will find that all authentic teachings and
traditions have a place in the process.

Historically, they have been so many occasions where a little hindsight would have changed the course of history. We have hindsight now as a
result of the grace and compassion of the source of these instructions. We enter this process not needing to know simply to be of service.
There is every possibility that together with others unknown who are also undertaking this work, we will continue to enjoy the benefits of
precious human life.

There are so many reasons why we need to act. We do not choose a single reason above any other – simply, we work with the need to
produce harmonious action for the benefit of all beings.
